A BIT ABOUT OUR ANNUAL BRIDGE OF LIFE EVENT:

On September 10, 2016, World Suicide Prevention Day, YEG Mental Health (formerly known as EMHAC) held the inaugural Bridge of Life event at Constable Ezio Faraone Park.

This event was organized by a YEG Mental Health team member who was battling their own challenges, fully aware that many others also struggle with suicidal thoughts and the desire to stay in this world. We recognized the importance of creating a night dedicated to those who have lost loved ones to suicide, as well as to individuals who have experienced similar terrifying thoughts. At that time, no other events in Edmonton focused specifically on suicide awareness and support, which is why the first Bridge of Life event was established.

The inaugural Bridge of Life featured Dan Klempke as our guest speaker. Dan's presence was particularly meaningful, as he had tragically lost his beloved wife to suicide on the High-Level Bridge.

Since that first event, we have been fortunate to welcome remarkable speakers from the community each year. Dan Klempke, along with Natasha and Bailey Dunbar, Michelle Bagnell, Carla Howette, Nicole Berdin, Chris, Ethan, and Maureen Parker, has shared their real, raw, and inspiring stories with us.
