YEG Mental Health’s Annual Bridge of Life Suicide Prevention/Awareness Candle Light Walk and Vigil!

YEG Mental Health’s Annual Bridge Of Life Suicide Prevention/ Awareness Candlelight Walk and Vigil is a powerful evening held on September 10 Suicide Prevention Day.

The evening includes local mental health resources, musical acts, refreshments, and moving speakers with personal experiences around suicide.

The night serves as a safe space for those who have lost loved ones too soon, a place to celebrate and remember their loved ones and raise awareness for this devastating mental health issue. The event closes with a candlelight vigil walk across the High-Level Bridge, where we take a moment of silence regarding all those lost too soon.

MEET SOME OF OUR BRIDGE OF LIFE SPEAKERS:

YEG Mental Health’s Annual Bridge Of Life Suicide Prevention/Awareness Candlelight Walk and Vigil have had some amazing speakers over the years who have graced us with their brave stories of survival and hope surrounding Suicide.

Some of these amazing humans include Dan Klempke (Who lost his wife to Suicide on the High-level Bridge!), Natasha and Bailey Dunbar (Who lost their daughter and twin sister to Suicide!), Michelle Bagnell (Who lost her Father to Suicide, and found inspiration around the world!), Elizabeth Turnbull (who lost her husband), Nicole Berdin (Who lost her mother to Suicide and shares her Suicide note left behind!), Carla Howatt (Who lost her son to Suicide and wrote a book about her healing process!), Kristopher Marks (Owner of VIV Mental Health!), Ethan Nicolas (Author and Owner of Fight Me On This!), and Maureen Parker (lost her partner.)

Bridge of Life has been fortunate to showcase some incredible local musical talent over the years. Here are just a few of the artists: Form 10, Ella Hart, Shauna Specht, Emily Drew Levine, and the Cooper Youth Singers, featuring Gerilyn Yanew, Kristina Erkamp, Shawn McRorie, and Tori Hartwell. We also want to highlight Mary Stinchcombe , Bernard Quilala , Jessa Sky, and our dear friend Robin Cisek.
